MY SPRING CALENDAR
Morningside Heights and West Harlem
Saturday, May 22nd, 10:30 - 12:30 p.m.
This walking tour will take us on a fascinating stroll through the spiritual and intellectual capital of New York City! With its 7 colleges and universities and unique cultural attractions and history, this lesser known area of Manhattan has had a huge impact on the world, from the contributions made by the academic pioneers at Columbia University to the entertainers whose careers were launched on the stage of the Apollo Theater. We will stop by Riverside Church, visit a battle site from the American Revolution, and learn the true answer to that famous riddle, "Who is buried in Grant's Tomb?" This area is also a great place to live so we will also include some of the great housing opportunities.
Meeting place, 116th Street & Broadway at the gated entrance to Columbia University. Suggested contribution $15 and $10 for students and seniors.
Tours typically last about two hours except for Neighborhood Orientation Tours which last about one hour or slightly longer. Bring your camera and your friends. Work up an appetite for brunch!

Tours are free for real estate customers (past and present). For casual sightseers, two-hour tours are $15 per person for adults and $10 for students and seniors. I can also design and conduct specialty tours for your group. These tours can be be anywhere from 2-6 hours and can include a meal. Rates vary depending on the duration and number of people.

Manhattan Valley Orientation
This up and coming area lies between 100-110th Streets between Broadway and Central Park West features the cozy Manhattan Avenue historic district, new restaurants and nightspots along Columbus and Amsterdam Avenue, and fascinating landmarks such as the former New York Cancer Hospital (now a condo) on Central Park West.
Chelsea: First the History and Then the Art Thursday evenings or Saturday afternoons.
This fun tour will begin with a one hour stroll past Chelsea's landmarks, including the Chelsea Hotel, the General Theological Seminary, Cushman's Row, while tracing the area's varied history, from its days as a wealthy suburb, to an early bohemia and theatre district, to today with an explosion of new housing in the East, to the Gallery District in the West. The last part of the tour will be a visit to several gallery openings.
Lower Washington Heights
This very affordable yet undiscovered part of Manhattan includes the Jumel Terrace and Audubon Terrace Districts and two really cool museums that we will visit briefly: The Morris Jumel Mansion, the last surviving 18th century mansion on Manhattan (which served as George Washington's headquarters in 1776); and the Hispanic Society of America, filled with unique art and historic treasures.
The Financial District/Lower Manhattan
In commemoration of the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson's exploration of New York Harbor in 1609, which led to the founding of New Amsterdam, the first European settlement in lower Manhattan. We will visit some remnants of New Amsterdam and visit numerous landmarks including the site of America's first capital. The tour will also will cover the history of the financial district and stories of both key and colorful figures who lived and worked in lower Manhattan.
Introduction to Hamilton Heights
From the magnificent City College Campus to the lively homes in the historic district, this Harlem neighborhood if filled with unique treasures, magnificent architecture and attractions, including Manhattan's only State Park.
